IA sponsors ostomate and triathlete Caroline Bramwell

IA is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Caroline Bramwell over the forthcoming year. Caroline is a great example of how living with an ileostomy doesn’t have to hold you back and through hard work and determination has returned to peak physical fitness, and in doing so, has become an advocate for many wanting to return to physical fitness following bowel surgery.

The new year promises to be a busy one for Caroline who will be launching a new book about her journey entitled ‘Loo Rolls to Lycra: The Ironman Dreams of an IBD Sufferer’, participating in a number of triathlon events and speaking about her experiences of living with a stoma at key events.

Caroline said, “I am delighted to have IA (The Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Association) as my sponsors for 2018. It was an organisation I first turned to when I had my own ileostomy formed when I knew no-one with an ostomy, and I have watched them reach out to so many ostomates in so many ways. IA’s ethos of helping those with an ileostomy to have an active and fulfilling life after surgery reflects my own personal goals. In 2018/2019 I will competing in triathlons at all distances and am proud to be an advocate for the great work of IA.”

As the first stoma patient support group in the UK, IA has been supporting people living with an ileostomy for over 60 years now and we are delighted to not only have been able to help Caroline at a time that she needed it most but also to be working with her to continue raising awareness and supporting others.
